MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with minimum 5 - 10 years of professional experience; or a related Masters degree with 3 - 5 years of professional experience. MUST BE U.S. CITIZEN.

DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION:

This position is ideal for a candidate that loves to be worshipped by coworkers for their ability to prove through math and science that our hardware will mechanically survive after being strapped onto a rocket and fired into space. You must be comfortable with setting up a finite element model of one or many satellites and setting up the necessary bounding conditions and loads for a variety of launch vehicles. The ideal candidate is confident they can perform analysis to show margin to requirements or weaknesses in design and work with the mechanical designers to optimize for both. The ideal candidate has performed Craig Bampton reductions, or is at least familiar with what that means and willing to learn. You must think rockets are cool, and satellites are cool, and have a good sense of humor.

SKILLS NEEDED:

• Demonstrated ability to setup and perform high-level analysis on satellite systems, launch vehicle adapters and dispensers and complex integrated assemblies
• Use finite element modeling and analysis to perform static, modal, random vibration, and sine vibration analysis, bolted joint calculations, analyze weld stresses and fatigue margins.
• Support mechanical engineering team to optimize designs in fulfillment of customer requirements or internal company design goals
• Creatively address unique and varied launch load conditions for many combinations of launch environments and payload assemblies
• Interface with program management and customers to convey analysis results and present reports
• Proficiency with modeling tools such as Femap / Nei NASTRAN / MSC NASTRAN / Nx NASTRAN
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools.
• Team oriented, good time management and communication skills.
• Desired: Experience with Windchill data management software.
• Desired: Satellite or launch vehicle mechanical engineering design experience (big plus!)
• Desired: Experience with spacecraft mechanisms design challenges
• Desired: Familiarity with Yahoo Fantasy Football, but historically do not make the playoffs
