At Spaceflight we are creating the future. We are transforming how spacecraft are built, launched and operated and our customers are using these technologies to push the boundaries of space exploration and look at our planet in entirely new ways. Being a pioneer is not easy – it requires ingenuity, creativity, perseverance and dedication. We are looking for exceptional people who have these traits to be part of our exceptional team. If you think you qualify, please tell us why in a cover letter and include your resume.
Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience:
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of experience designing, implementing and validating FPGA logic in VHDL. Xilinx experience and electrical engineering knowledge relevant to working with FPGAs a definite plus. Must be US CITIZEN or US PERSON
Duties Specific to this Position:
This role involves developing FPGA logic in VHDL for satellite avionics and associated peripheral devices. The candidate must be very comfortable designing FPGA logic from the ground up, including development of test benches required to demonstrate functionality and personally testing the finished design in hardware. The logic designer will be required to interface with Systems and Software Engineering personnel to ensure that the design concept meets overall system requirements and presents an appropriate interface to software. Ability to work efficiently and independently without detailed design direction is critical.
Skills Needed:
In addition to a solid understanding of FPGA logic development and validation, the ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of the FPGA as an electronic component. This includes how pinout choices and I/O configurations impact the performance of the system as well as how to guide PCB layout activities to optimize board designs for FPGA power distribution and signal integrity.
Experience:
- Xilinx FPGAs and development tools (ISE, Modelsim).
- Common electronics laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- VHDL for both logic synthesis and verification.
- Knowledge of signal integrity issues for FPGAs (power distribution, I/O).
- General knowledge of software development and software / hardware interface methodologies desired.
- Experience with embedded processors in FPGAs (PowerPC, Microblaze) a plus.
